Maoist leader Barsha Man Pun a.k.a Ananta has said that today’s summit talks between the ruling seven-party alliance and the Maoists is going to be decisive.
In a telephonic interview with Nepalnews this afternoon, Ananta said as they [government and Maoists] have reached consensus on almost all issues, today’s summit meeting would finalise the agreements.
On the fate of monarchy, Ananta said, “Some political parties are saying that the first meeting of the constituent assembly should decide the fate of monarchy while the UML and some other parties are saying that it should be decided through referendum. The summit meeting will decide the issue also.”
He revealed that both the options would be acceptable to the Maoists.
When asked about the pressure created by Maoist cadres to general people to feed and give shelter to them, Ananta said, “Some people are providing shelter voluntarily to Maoist cadres, who are in the capital to attend the mass meeting to be addressed by Maoist chairman Prachanda on November 10, but we are not forcing anybody to do so.”
“As we are planning to bring one million people in the capital in a first public meeting to be addressed by our Chairman, we are seeking cooperation from the civil society and general people but we are not forcing people to feed our cadres,” Ananta, who is one of the deputy commanders of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), said. “I received information this morning that some of our cadres are forcing people to do so and I have already issued directives to them not to do so. If some cadres are forcing people, we will correct it immediately.”
Speaking at Monday’s meeting of the MPs also expressed concern that Maoists have been forcing general people in Kathmandu to feed and provide shelter to their cadres.
He further said that all the political issues would be resolved before the mass meeting.
