The five-day-long Tihar festival began today (October 23) with people offering food to crows on the first day of the festival, known as Kaag Tihar (day of the crow).
According to Hindu mythology, the crow is considered a “special messenger” of sister Yamuna who sends message through it to her brother Yamaraj inviting him to receive “bhai tika” and blessings from her.
Tihar festival stresses family values and affection among brothers and sisters. nepalnews.com mr Oct 23
