DOTI, Aug 27 – Three insurgents,including a Maoist area commander and a female cadre, surrendered at the District Administration Office here yesterday.
Ram Bahadur Shahi,24, and Devi Lal Sunar,30, both of Rugin Village Development Committee of Bajura and Dum Kumari Bogati,15 of Pandusain VDC in the same district gave up insurgency, Chief District Officer (CDO) Krishna Prasad Poudel told The Kathmandu Post.
According the CDO, Devi Lal Sunar was the local area commander of the region and Bogati the head of cultural section in the region. The rebels renounced insurgency because they were fed up of “the politics of violence” pertaining to the five year old Maoist People’s War against the State, the CDO reportedly said.
Meanwhile, Maoist Commander Dhaneshwar Pokharel, holding a public meeting at Dakhakwadi VDC of Pyuthan district, has urged the locals to settle their disputes at the Maoist Jan Adalat (People’s Court), according to our Pyuthan based reporter. Dakhaki VDC, fast turning into a town, is connected to the national mainstream by road and telecommunication accesses.
