KATHMANDU: Three more Maoists were killed in shoot-outs with security forces in Dandeldhura and Bara districts overnight, the Defence Ministry said Friday. Two Maoists were killed in Dandeldhura and one in Bara.
Army recovered a large cache of guns, ammunition and explosives from rebels in the two operations. The army Friday issued a general public appeal asking people to inform the nearest barrack or army personnel about extortions by people in the name of the army after such incidents came to light, an official announcement said.
Army men have not been involved in such extortions, the announcement said. The army has also asked the people not to touch suspicious objects and alert the nearest army post after detection when some children were injured after handling a socket bomb hidden under a bridge in Janakpur this week.
Army bomb disposal units overnight deactivated three banner bombs placed in football fields in the capital and Banepa, an announcement said.
