Security sources on Sunday morning have confirmed the arrest of three senior Maoist carders from Bhaktapur on Saturday.

Talking to Nepalnews, the sources at army headquarters confirmed the arrest of the Maoist leader Prakash Gautam and two colleagues. But according to reports, six more Maoists were also arrested in the capital on Friday .

When asked if the Maoists Kathmandu Valley commander, Aditya was among those arrested, the security source said, “We don’t know if he is Aditya, Akash or someone else, but its true we have taken a few Maoists into custody. The army is investigating.” The officials didn’t elaborate further.

According to Sunday’s reports, security personnel arrested Aditya, and two other regional leaders from Bhaktapur on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Saturday’s Nepal Samacharpatra quoted sources as saying that Rs 800,000 was also recovered from Aditya when he was arrested. Maoist sources have said Aditya was “out of contact” since Thursday evening, according to the daily. However, security sources on Sunday morning flatly denied reports that money was recovered from Aditya.

Aditya was assigned to take care of underground party’s network in the capital valley after security personnel arrested Prashant alias Sadhuram Devkota from Kathmandu a couple of months ago. Devkota allegedly committed suicide while in army detention last month.

HimRights, an HR organization Saturday sought the whereabouts of the Maoist Kathmandu valley coordinator Aditya and his associate Bimal. On Sunday morning, according to Nepal FM (91.8), Bimal called them and stated that Aditya and six others were arrested, but he was not one among them. nepalnews.com pd Jan 09 05
