Their Majesties King Gyanendra and Queen Komal today left for a three week long unofficial visit to the Eastern Development Region to take stock of the situation in the region.

The King will receive information about the progress in the region following the February 1 royal takeover.
According to reports, Their Majesties will visit the districts of the region. This is the second visit of Their Majesties to the region after assuming full executive power on February 1, 2005. Prior to this, Their Majesties visited various districts of the Eastern Development Region on July/August 2005.
According to reports, security has been beefed up in the hilly districts.
According to reports, Their Majesties will offer prayers at Pathivara Devi temple today and will also give directives to officials.
The King will receive information about the security situation in the region as the government is holding the municipal polls on February 8.
Their Majesties will return to the capital on January 22.
