Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala has condemned the military coup in Thailand.

In his brief conversation with media persons at his official residence Baluwatar on Wednesday morning, PM Koirala termed yesterday’s Thai military coup as ‘unfortunate’.

He said there was no possibility of any military coup in Nepal.

Since the political situation in Nepal and Thailand is quite different, military coup in Nepal is impossible, he added.

On Tuesday night, army chief of Thailand, Sondhi Boonyarataklin, 59, ousted Prime Minister Thaksin Sinawatra, who was in the US to attend the UN general assembly, and assumed Prime Ministerial duties. He has declared allegiance to King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
