Kathmandu, Jan. 12 : The Bandh programme organised in the Terai districts today had only a general affect in some districts while it did not have any affect in some others, according to the home ministry spokesman.

In course of the Bandh, one jeep in Saptari, one truck in Mahottari, a bus, a truck and a tractor in Parsa and three trucks in Nawalparasi district were slightly damaged due to of pelting of stones by the Bandh organisers.

Police had to use light force to bring under control the situation that arose following stone pelting at policemen by some people who were forcibly obstructing transportation in Parwanipur of Parsa district.

One policeman was injured in the incident and besides this no untoward incident took place during the Bandh today.

According to the spokesman, altogether 36 persons including four in Jhapa district, 17 in Morang, 11 in Sunsari and four in Nawalparasi district were taken into police custody on the charge of pelting stones at transport vehicles, obstructing roads and forcing shops to close down.

All individuals arrested except those involved in vandalism will be released later today following investigations, said the spokesman.
