Surya Nepal Pvt. Ltd, a world-class readymade garment manufacturer, is setting up a new garment factory in Biratnagar.
Managing Director of the company, Harsh Madhav Dar, informed that the construction work of the garment started from Monday and the new factory would be fully operational by November 2007.
Speaking at a press conference organised in the capital Tuesday to inform about the new garment factory, Dar said, “The facility will house machinery and world class infrastructure to support manufacture of upto 7,000 shirts and 1,200 trousers per day in two shifts in the first phase.”
He further informed that Surya Nepal would be able to expand capacity to four times from its current production, in next 5 to 7 years.
The company, which is exporting its product to India, is planning to expand its market in Europe and other countries, he informed.
He also said that the company was considering cuts in the prices of their product to penetrate the local market.
The garment company, which started business four years ago, has exported four muilion pieces of readymade garments worth NRS. 16 billion. Similarly, the company also sold 100,000 pieces of readymade garment in Nepal.
According to Dar, the company had invested over NRS. 160 million in the area of introducing world-class technologies and training to the workers.
