Newly appointed Deputy Prime Minister Amik Sherchan has said that ‘summit talks’ between Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala and Maoist supremo Prachanda will take place very soon.
Speaking at a face-to-face program organised by the Reporters’ Club Tuesday, Sherchan said “serious homework” for summit talks was underway.
He added that Maoist chairman Prachanda would be in Kathmandu very soon for final negotiations on the ‘peace package’.
“The wait to see Prachanda in the public will soon end,” he said.
Sherchan, who is the chairman of People’s Front Nepal, claimed that election to constituent assembly would start within six months.
On the next round of government-Maoist talks, the DPM said they were set to be held within days but he did not give the details.
