After six and a half hour of marathon consultations, the summit meeting at Baluwatar was adjourned without adoption of any formal agreement.
The summit meeting between the SPA and the Maoists will resume on Tuesday from 8 am at Baluwatar – the official residence of the Prime Minister.
Earlier, after holding six hours of series of informal consultations, the top leaders of seven parties and the Maoists sat together for around half an hour after which they decided to adjourn Monday’s meeting at around 10:30 pm.
The summit meeting, which started from this afternoon at Baluwatar, went ahead with the informal rounds. As the issue of arms management has been ‘almost settled’ as per the understanding to have single lock system in the Maoist cantonment with UN technology installed to monitor it, today’s meeting focused on other issues like interim constitution, interim legislature, interim government and election procedures for Constituent Assembly. According to Nepali Congress (NC) leader Arjun Narsingh KC, the talks revolved around the issue of interim legislature in particular.
