Kathmandu, Mar. 4 : CPN(ML) General secretary Bamdev Gautam has issued a press release recalling the five comrades who attained martyrdom at Sukhani Jungle in 2029 B.S. on this very day.
Twenty seven years ago on this very day, Netra Ghimire, Ramnath Dahal, Biren Rajbanshi, Krishna Kuinkel and Narayan Shrestha were murdered in the forest.
Stating that this day inspires us all to reaffirm our commitment to the principles, wage an uncompromising struggle against reactionaries and involve in the fight for the sake of the nation and the people, Mr Gautam said despite some ultra-leftist trends seen in the then Jhapa movement, it has played a crucial role in reorganizing the party in a revolutionary manner.
In Janakpurdham, cpn-ml President Sahana Pradhan has said the objectives with which the communist movement was started in Nepal have not been realized.
Mrs Pradhan, while inaugurating a three day review meeting of the party’s second national expansion and consolidation campaign at Mujheliya today, spoke of the need to strengthen the party for preserving the image it has made among the masses.
Party general secretary Bamdev Gautam said the country is passing through social, political and economic crisis, adding that everyone should abide by party discipline.
Cpn-ml politburo member Radha Krishna Mainali recalled the five comrades who were killed on this very day 27 years ago and said the leftists have been making mistakes ever since.
Various other speakers including politburo members Sitanandan Raya, Siddhilal Singh, Ashok Rai, Shambhuram Shrestha and Keshav Lal Shrestha also spoke at the function participated in by a total of 250 persons including central members, trainers and district secretaries.
Meanwhile, the cpn-uml Rukum-Kathmandu liaison forum organised a meeting today on the occasion of the first death anniversary of the late Yadu Gautam.
Former secretary of the party’s Rukum district committee Gautam was killed by the so called Maoists last year this very day.
Speaking on the occasion, party’s central advisor and National Assembly MP Ram Chandra Bhattarai said those who killed Mr Gautam who was popular among the masses will expose themselves.
Various other speakers including mp Ratna Prasad Sharma Neupane and forum’s member Bimal Pun also expressed their views at the function chaired by chairman of the forum Vivek Gautam.
