Students affiliated to five parties Saturday continued “anti-regressive” protests in and outside Kathmandu chanting aggressive slogans.

Leaders of the five agitating parties also took part in the rallies. In Kathmandu, the protesters passed through major thoroughfares of the city and converged into a corner meeting at Ratnapark.

Vice president of Nepal Students’ Association, Pradip Poudel and secretary general of All Nepal National Free Students’ Union (ANNFSU), Khimlal Bhattarai addressed the meeting.

District reports said such protests were also held in Butwal, Tanahu and Pokhara, among other places. Protesters burned the effigies of “regression” in the respective places, according to the reports.

However, the protests, in and outside the capital, were peaceful as there was no police intervention, witnesses and reports said. nepalnews.com mr Jan 10
