Stop abductions: NHRC

Urging the Maoists to immediately stop rights violations, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Friday asked the rebels to immediately release all abducted from different parts of the country.

The NHRC further asked the rebels to uphold their commitment to respect the Geneva Convention on human rights and asked to immediately release the captives abducted recently from Bajura, Gorkha and Nuwakot districts.

The NHRC has also criticized the killing of the mayor of Pokhara sub metropolitan city on Friday.

Meanwhile rights activists Damannath Dhungana, Padmaratna Tuladhar, Malla K Sundar and Sudip Pathak in a joint statement on Friday have appealed Maoists to release Prem Singh Bohara.

Bohara, the headmaster of Mahakali Secondary School of Kanchanpur district was abducted on June 03. Bohara is reportedly affiliated with Nepal Teachers’ Association. His present condition is not known.
