Speaker of the House of Representatives Subash Nemwang has criticised the seven parties and the Maoists for not respecting the sovereign rights of the people to determine the future of the monarchy through referendum while reaching the agreement.
Speaking at a programme in the capital on Wednesday, Nemwang, also asked the government and the parties to show sincerity to fully implement the agreement reached stating that has paved the way for making a new Nepal. He added, though the agreement is historical, it is incomplete
Addressing the same programme, Maoist leader Dev Gurung asked all concerned to remain alert against any kind of conspiracies by the royalists and regressive forces.
He said the historical agreement of the seven parties and the Maoists this morning (late Tuesday night after midnight) would fulfil the dreams of the Nepali citizens to seen a new and prosperous Nepal. “We must be attentive to ensure that feudalism would never raise its head again in Nepal,” he added.
Meanwhile, reports from Biratnagar say that student groups took to streets today to celebrate the historic agreement reached between the seven parties and the Maoists for the establishment of permanent peace and democracy in the country. The local party leaders are reported to have begun preparations for deepawali this evening in Biratnagar.
