Solider believed dead alive

A solider that was believed to have been killed in the deadly attack in Pili, Kalikot is alive.

Royal Nepal Army (RNA) solider Shiva Karki of Jyamrung, Bhangeri VDC of Dhading District, was declared dead on the basis of his identity card found in the clash site. His father Lal Bahadur, 65 had performed his final rites in Aryaghat with the government providing Rs 20,000 to cover mourning expenses.

Karki was alive was revealed when Kantipur daily, in its August 22 edition, published photographs of soldiers in Maoist custody, and Karki was one of them.

Nearly 12,000 Nepalis have lost their lives in the nine-year-old insurgency.
