This year’s School Leaving Certificate (SLC) examination that started from April 4 has completed on Thursday.

This year, 368,678 students including 292,287 in regular and 76,391 in exempted groups appeared the “iron gate” annual test of school education.

Except the leakage of Nepali question paper prior to examination in Bhaktapur district, no untoward incident occurred. The ministry of education has already decided to hold re-examination of Nepali subject in Bhaktapur on Friday. Maoist-affiliated student group had demanded that re-examination of Nepali should be held in entire central region.

Unlike in the past, this time the student only faced questions from the grade X syllabus. The government had decided to omit grade IX syllabus from SLC this year.

A total of 1,186 examinations centres were set up: 365 in the central region, 307 in the eastern region, 277 in the western region, 144 in the mid-western region and 93 in the far-western region.

Some 11,860 security personnel, 3,000 evaluators and monitors, 15,467 inspectors, 2,371 assistant superintendents and 1,186 superintendents were mobilised to conduct the examinations across the country.
