Six ministers declare assets

Kathmandu, May 16: Six more ministers have declared their assets in response to the Prime Minister’s instructions on Saturday.

Foreign Minister Chakra Prasad Bastola, Information and Communications Minister Jaya Prakash Prasad Gupta; Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Tarani Datta Chataut; State Minister for Education and Sports Dilendra Prasad Badu; State Minister for Local Development Suresh Malla and State Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supply Narendra Bikram Nemwang made public their property today.

According to Foreign Ministry, Bastola has twelve bighas of land in Jhapa’s Budhabare, two katthas of land in Birtamod and one ropani and four anas of land in Kathmandu’s Battisputali.

Similarly, his wife Kusum Bastola possesses two ropanis and four anas of land in Lalitpur’s Khumaltar. Minister Bastola also owns some pieces of lands in Jhapa he inherited after his father’s death. He has a plot of four katthas of land with a house on it, one bigha, 18 katthas and ten dhurs of land in Budhabare-9 and two katthas and ten dhurs of land in Ward 6 and 7 of the same VDC, the Ministry said.

Likewise, he has got fifty tolas of gold and 300 tolas of silver. He also has eight thousand US dollars in Kathmandu’s Indosuez Bank. His wife also has fifty thousand rupees in the same bank and 170 thousand in Birtamod’s Nepal Bank Limited. Minister Bastola has a debt of 1.5 million rupees, the Ministry added.

Minister Bastola also possesses a Toyota Prado, a government vehicle he received as a facility in his capacity as a minister. Besides, he has a share of ten thousand rupees in Indrayani Soyabean Limited and a share of 20 thousand in his daughter’s name, the Ministry said.

Similarly, Minister Gupta owns 23 bighas of land in Saptari’s Dharampur and Piprapurba with plantation in four bighas. He also has land pieces and houses under joint ownership in Saptari’s Kanchanpur, Phattepur and Dharampur and in Biratnagar Sub-Metropolitan City. He has five anas of land with a concrete house on it in Kathmandu’s Sinamangal, the Ministry said.

Under joint ownership, Minister Gupta possesses 75 tolas of gold and 250 tolas of silver. He also has 700 thousand rupees in his accounts in Bank of Kathmandu and Agricultural Development Bank at Ratnapark, the Minister said.

Under Gupta’s possession, a joint venture cold store is under construction in Dharampur. For household and industrial use, he has taken loan pledging some of his lands that are under joint ownership. He is also running a joint venture poultry farm in Dharampur. He also runs an off -set press under joint ownership in Kathmandu, has a Nissan diesel car he bought in his capacity as a Parliamentarian, an old model diesel jeep, a tractor in joint ownership and two motor-bicycles, the Ministry said.

Likewise, Minister Chataut has a one-storey house, another house in his sons’ name and one kattha of land in his wife Saraswati Chataut’s name in Kanchanpur’s Mahendra Nagar Municipality.

He also has one kattha of land in Suda of the same district. His wife has five katthas in Daiji and six bighas of land with one-storey house in Kailali’s Geta. Minster Chataut also possesses under joint ownership, 225 ropanis of land, one kitchen house and three houses with a cow-shed in Dadeldhura. He also has eight anas of land in Kathmandu’s Bhimsengola, the Ministry said.

Minister Chataut also has 125 tolas of land and 500 tolas of silver along with a bank balance of 225 thousand rupees in Banijya Bank at Bishal Bazzar in Kathmandu and 135 thousand rupees in Nepal Bank Limited at Mahendra Nagar. His sons Hem Prakash and Deep Prakash have a share of 50 thousand rupees and Minister Chataut has a share of ten thousand at Navajivan Co-operative at Dhangadhi, the Ministry said.

State Minister Dipendra Prasad Badu has three concrete houses in Darchula’s Khalanga and another house in Kanchapur’s Krishnapur. Similarly, he has nine ropanis of fallow land and four ropanis of paddy field in Khalanga and three bighas of paddy field and 12 kattha of land in Mahendra Nagar and Krishnapur, the Ministry said.

He has got eight tolas of gold, ten tolas of silver and ten thousand rupees in Rastriya Banijay Bank at Geta. All of the land plots are under joint ownership, the Ministry added.

State Minister Suresh Malla has a parental property of 250 ropanis of land with a house at Bajhang’s Rayal VDC, two ropanis of land with three storey concrete house in Kathmandu’s Sitapaila and one ropani eight anas of land in Swayambhu, the Ministry said.

Malla possesses 147 tolas of gold, 13 kilograms of silver (both parental property), a share of one million rupees at various compaines, 654 thousand rupees at various banks and hard cash of 150 thousand, the Ministry said.

State Minister Narendra Bikram Nemwang has two houses in Jhapa, one in Mechi Municipality and one in Panchathar. He also has 17 katthas 19 dhurs of land in the same town and 55 ropanis of land in Panchathar. He owns 60 tolas of gold and 300 tolas of silver, the Ministry said.
