Dailekh, Jan. 29:Landowners of 17 Village Development Committees have staged a sit-in protest at the land revenue office, Dailekh as the office has not taken any initiative towards resolving the problems pertaining to Guthi lands incorporated in a memorandum handed in to the office on January 12.

The  also chanted slogans such as “release the lands on hold” and “fix land revenue on the basis of receipts issued in 2051 bs.”

The problem has emerged because of the decision of the Guthi Sansthan to convert land once registered in the name of tennants back into Guthi holdings, it is learnt.

Since then, the office has not collected land revenue and the landowners have not been bale to sell land or offer it as Bank collateral.
