A press statement issued by the NC (D) Wednesday said Deuba appointed Singh, who shared the post of general secretary with Bimalendra Nidhi, as per the party statute.

The appointment comes amid disputes over the seniority between the two general secretaries, which had even hampered the decision-making process within the party.

Deuba had appointed Gopal Man Shreshta as the acting party president and Singh and Nidhi as secretaries on January 11 this year. Both Shrestha and Singh will be working in the capacity of vice-presidents, the NC (D) said.
