A senior businessman Narsingh Bahadur Shrestha passed away at the age of 82 on Monday.
Founding member and former chairman of Himalayan Bank Limited, Shrestha passed away at Norvic Hospital in Kathmandu.
He was suffering from diabetes and chest ailments. He had been hospitalised since last one month.
Born in 1925 in Dilli Bazaar, Kathmandu Shrestha got his primary education in Charkhari Rajya India. He completed his secondary high school from Durbar High School Kathmandu, and then he graduated from Tri Chandra College. He got his Masters Degree in Political Science from Lukhnow University, India.
Politically active from his student days, he had contributed in the democratic movement of 2007 B.S. He played a pivotal role in establishing diplomatic relation between Nepal and the Soviet Union.
He entered into transportation business in 2011 B.S. He later shifted to construction business.
He was the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kanti Childrens’ Hospital. He was also the founding director of Board Of Directors of Himalayan Bank Limited and later was elected as the Chairman of BOD (1996-2000) and also the chief advisor of the bank.
He is survived by his wife Maiya Devi Shrestha, two sons and seven daughters.
