The government has decided to appoint Jeevan Ram Shrestha for the post of member secretary of the National Sports Council (NSC).

Monday’s meeting of the council of ministers took the decision to this effect.

Purendra Bikram Lakhe, Sitaram Maskey and Birendra Yadav were also appointed as the board members in the council.

According to sources, two others members will be appointed later.

A full NSC body comprises of 19 members of which six members are appointed by the cabinet with Minister of Education and Sports being the chairman.

Secretary of Ministry of Education and Sports and joint secretary of Sports Division in the ministry have ex-officio membership.

The NSC body also include one representative each from Trihbuvan University and Mahendra University while three members are nominated from the national sports associations. Each of the five Development Regions represent one member in the board.
