A single bench of justice Min Bahadur Rayamajhi issued a show cause notice to four different government bodies Thursday seeking clarification as to why they had filed two different charges against ‘Jana Aastha’ editor Kishor Shrestha though he was booked for public offense in the beginning.
A case of public offense had been filed against Shrestha after a nude photo of actress Shreesha Karki published in his paper had driven the actress to commit suicide. Later murder charges were also filed against Shrestha claiming that Karki would not have killed herself if it had not been for the obscene photo published in the paper.
The court has issued the show cause to the Kathmandu District Police Office, Valley Crime Investigation Department, District Government Attorney’s Office and Office of the Chief District Officer, Kathmandu.
Shrestha filed a case at the Supreme Court stating that the double charges filed against him were against Article 14 of he Constitution. nepalnews.com am Nov 29
