Seven police personnel including Inspector Bimal Raj Kandel have been suspended in the charges of smuggling Yarshagumba, reports said.
The other suspended police personnel are Sub-inspectors Raju KC, Suraj Khadka and Santosh Swanr, Assistant Sub-inspectors Roshan Shah and Himal Shah and policeman Bishan Chaulagain.
They were suspended after an internal investigation carried out by the Valley Police Office, Ranipokhari.
They were arrested by police on Tuesday on the charge of smuggling 12 kg of Yarshagumba stolen from Indrachowk.
They were arrested while they were trying to sell the herb worth 620 thousand rupees stolen from hotel entrepreneur Yog Bahadur Shakya, according to reports.
Police is also looking into possible involvement of Kishan Chaulagain, a police constable, in the crimes.
Police on Tuesday also arrested three persons possessing about 1.4 kg Yarshagumba herb and Rs.40,000 from Balaju.
Those arrested from Balaju were Denjy Sherpa of Kailali, Gami Budha of Rukum and Dhan Maya Gurung Dang.
