At least seven Maoists were gunned down and three more rebels died when the bombs they were carrying exploded in different parts of the country on Sunday, security sources and radio reports said Monday.
According to a Defence Ministry statement, three Maoists were shot dead in Pharsey area of Jhapa district. Likewise, two Maoists were killed in Ranighat of Parsa and one more was gunned down in Ghasreni of Kavre, the statement said.
Security forces recovered arms and ammunitions from the different encounters, the statement added.
Radio reports, meanwhile, said three Maoists died in Panchthar on Sunday after a few socket bombs they were carrying went off. The dead could not be identified, according to the reports. nepalnews.com mr Jan 12
