Seven Maoists killed in Doti

Seven Maoists were killed in a shoot-outs with the army and armed police in four districts Thursday and Friday, the Defence Ministry and police said.

The army shot dead five insurgents in Makwanpur, Kanchanpur and Jumla. Three Maoists were shot dead in Makwanpur and one in Kanchanpur Friday and another rebel was shot dead in Jumla Thursday, the Ministry said.

Platoon commander Laxman was killed in Jumla. Lal Bahadur alias Jalbayu and another rebel were killed at Shibanagar in Doti , police said.

A group of suspected armed Maoists Thursday night attacked and destroyed part of the Begnas Resort complex in Lekhnath sub metropolis in Kaski, security sources said. Nobody, including tourists, were injured.

Security agencies are investigating the attack.
