Seven people including three of a family have died at Hatiya village development committee (VDC) of Sankhuwasabha district, due to the outbreak of an unidentified disease in the area.
According to media reports, 80 people are seriously ill due to the unidentified disease.
Reports quoted VDC secretary Hari Katuwal as saying that 50-year-old Thirup Lama, of ward number 8 of the VDC and his two daughters died due to the disease. Additionally, 45-year-old Dukma Bhote of ward number 9, 35-year-old Sani Tshiring Bhote, 85-year-old Situk Bhote and 80-year-old Narpu Ridar also died due to the disease.
All of them died within a week. According to Katuwal, people die within a couple of hours after the disease infects in them.
The Kantipur Daily quoted Chief District Officer as saying that four people were killed and many people are suffering in the area, which is three days walk from the district headquarter.
According to officer at the Public Health Office Satish Bista, the office had dispatched a five-member team led by senior health assistant Dilip Kumar Shrestha in the area after they received information through villagers.
