The Jhapa district court Tuesday remanded seven Bhutanese refugees including Shiva Kumar Pradhan, President of the People’s Forum for Human Rights and Development, to custody for their alleged role in the gruesome murder of refugee leader R.K. Budhathoki in Damak, Jhapa, two months ago.
Bhudathoki was the founding president of the Bhutan People’s Party in exile in Nepal.
Police Monday filed cases against 32 persons at the Jhapa district court for their alleged involvement in the murder.
Twenty-five others charged in the murder are absconding; they are probably in hiding in India. The 100,000 refugee community living in UNHCR administered camps in east Nepal are deeply divided.
