His Majesty King Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev prorogued the 20th session of parliament from 2000 hrs Thursday.

Speaker Taranath Ranabhat and National Assembly chairman Mohammad Mohsin read out the letter from the Royal Palace in both Upper and Lower Houses. The 20th session had commenced on June 25, 2001.

The session passed annual policies, programmes and budget of the government and several other important Bills.
