KATHMANDU: A senior Maoist leader of Palpa was killed in the district during a search operation at his home overnight, Radio Nepal said Thursday quoting local officials. Security forces recovered 12 guns hidden in a forest in Jhapa and one pistol and some ammunition from another village in the east Nepal district Wednesday, the state owned radio said.

Two Nepalis were arrested in New Delhi this week with explosives and detonators that was about to be despatched for Maoists in Nepal, published reports said. The explosives and detonators were stolen from a stone quarry where they were working.
