Visiting US Senator Arlen Specter, has called on Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala on Sunday and discussed the current political situation of the country.
Talking to journalists after his meeting with the Prime Minister, Senator Specter said that Maoist problem is an internal problem of Nepal and added that Nepali people themselves are capable to resolve the problem.

Likewise, Senator Specter also called on Speaker of the reinstated parliament Subash Chandra Nemwang at the latter’s office Sunday morning and discussed the ongoing peace process of the country.
Reports quoted Nemwang as saying that the American senator expressed support to the ongoing peace process of the country.

The US senator also hailed the five-point agreement reached between the government and Maoists seeking the world bodies help in Nepal peace process and arms management.
Senator Specter, who chairs the Senate Committee on the Judiciary, arrived in Kathmandu on a two-day visit to Nepal on Saturday.
According to the US Embassy in Kathmandu, Specter’s visit here is part of a fact-finding trip to various countries including Nepal, China, Bhutan, Israel and Libya.
Senator Specter is also scheduled to meet Deputy Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who also holds the foreign portfolio this afternoon, before his departure.
