Seminar on electoral management organised

Kathmandu, June 5: The electoral management and relevant act and rules reforms recommendations sub-committees formed under the high level electoral procedures reforms committee headed by the Prime Minister organised a day-long seminar at the town development training office in Pokhara today in connection with collecting suggestions for making elections free and fair.

The district judges of Gorkha, Baglung and Kaski, CDO and office chiefs of Kaski district, the Kapilvastu, Rupandehi, Nawalparasi, Gorkha, Tanahu, Manang, Baglung, Syangja and Kaski district representatives of political parties represented in parliament, returning officers and polling officers of general elections 2056, representatives of local human rights organisations, representatives of local Chamber of Commerce and Industry, local intellectuals and journalists participated in the seminar.

National Assembly member Shukra Raj Sharma also participated.

The participants were divided into five groups to discuss the existing electoral procedures and relevant act and rules, and present suggestions for making elections free and fair.

Similar seminars will be organised in Nepalgunj, Dhangadhi and Biratnagar on June 8, 11 and 14 respectively.
