The Royal Nepal Army bomb disposal squad defused the bomb that was found in front of the Melamchi Drinking Water Project Office in New Baneshwor on Tuesday morning. The object was wrapped in red colored cloth in front of the office.
An army person who was involved in defusing the suspected object denied whether it was bomb but eyewitnesses said it was packed with brick and iron pieces.
The army had cordoned the area for three hours while the bomb disposal team was at work.
The capital city has been rocked by a series of explosions in the past week. The Maoists have stepped up their terror campaign after the emergency came to an end on August 28.
