Members of the bomb disposal unit of the Royal Nepalese Army (RNA) have defused a suspicious packet placed in the Lalitpur district post office Wednesday afternoon.

There was a small primary explosion when the packet was defused, eyewitnesses said.

Nobody was injured in the incident.

The RNA unit was kept busy earlier in the day due to what turned out to be a hoax bomb.

Security personnel stopped vehicular movement for over an hour along the busy New Baneswore-Maitighar Wednesday after a suspicious black bag was spotted in front of The Bakery Café at New Baneswore.

The disposal unit later found that it was an abandoned bag and contained a pair of trousers, among others.
