Security forces manhandled a human rights activist and a journalist in Manma of Kalikot district on Monday.

A press statement issued by the Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC), a leading rights organization working for the protection of human rights said, “Army personnel of Ranadal Barrack beat Kali Bahadur Malla, INSEC district representative of Kalikot, and Rabindra Shahi, journalist of Dristi Weekly and also district president of NGO Federation in Manma Bazaar on February 13.”

Malla was seriously injured in the beating while Shahi sustained minor injuries, the statement said.

Reportedly, an army patrol manhandled them after asking their identities.

Malla, who was seriously injured in the incident, is undergoing treatment at Nepalgunj.
