Security forces launched air raids in three village development committees of the remote, mid-western district of Dailekh Sunday, reports said.

There were no reports of the casualties but the security sources have claimed that over one dozen rebels have been killed and over two dozen others injured during the attack.

Nepal Samacharpatra daily quoted security sources as saying that the air raid had been launched on the basis of reports that Maoist guerrillas from mid-western districts of Surkhet, Kalikot, Achham, Jajarkot, Rukum and Rolpa were entering into the district.

Naumule, Toli and Salleri VDCs-where the security raid is being mounted-are almost vacant after the rebels forced local people to flee their villages for trying to resist against them, the news report said.

Regular security patrol is also underway in those areas, reports said. nepalnews.com by Dec 13 04
