Security forces foil Maoists attack in Lamjung, five rebels killed

Security forces foiled a Maoist attempt to destroy the repeater station at Bhirpastung of Lamjung district Wednesday night, sources at the Directorate of Public Relations (DPR) at the army headquarters told Nepalnews.

Officials have claimed that dozens of rebels were killed during the night-long clashes. Five bodies of the dead rebels have been recovered from the site so far. Five security forces have sustained minor injuries, the sources added.

Security forces recovered weapons- SLR, SMG, magazines and hundreds of bombs- from the battle site, the official added. The battle which erupted at 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday had lasted till 4 Thursday morning.
