The government and the Maoists are holding the second round of negotiations this afternoon.
The informal meeting of the government and the Maoists held this morning made the decision to this effect.
The talks will begin at Hotel Himalaya from 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon.
Talking to Nepalnews after the informal meeting, Dinanath Sharma, one of the members of the Maoist talk team, said the informal talks is going to be converted into a formal one.
Sharma informed that the second round of peace talks will concentrate on forming draft of interim statute, develop mechanism for monitoring ceasefire code of conduct and appointment of observer of facilitator of talks.
He said that the formal or informal talks will get continuity as they were in favour of moving to the election of the constituent assembly at the earliest.
Both teams are holding talks prior to Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala’s visit to Bangkok for health check up.
Sharma further said that they are discussing the proposal of seven political parties to hold the summit talks between them and the top Maoist leaders to go for the election of the constituent assembly.
The Maoists have said that Maoist supremo Prachanda and Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala will held summit talks to endorse the agreements reached between the negotiation team of both the sides.
On the issue of approaching the UN to monitor the ceasefire code of conduct and arms supervision during the election of the constituent assembly, Sharma said these issues will be discussed during the talks.
The first round of government-Maoist talks were held in Kathmandu on May 26, which had finalized a 25-point ceasefire code of conduct.
