The newly appointed Chief Justice (CJ) Govinda Bahadur Shrestha has said the Supreme Court (SC) will provide an appropriate way out of the petition filed regarding reinstatement of parliament, Nepal Samacharpatra said Thursday.

During the half-an-hour session with the press at his office, the CJ said he needs help from all members of the judicial council for it.

According to other reports, the CJ, underlining the need to provide prompt and impartial justice to the people, accepted that the apex court has failed to deliver justice in time.

“As Chief Justice, I will try to change the existing system to expedite justice,” he said.

He accepted the prevailing corruption in the judiciary and said, “I will discourage irregularities and corruption in the judiciary.”

Noteworthy, Govinda Bahadur Shrestha who succeeded Chief Justice Kedar Nath Upadhyaya, is the eighth person to hold the post in the judiciary since 1990. He will retire in October 2004.
