SIRAHA: As the savings bank programme introduced at the district post office, Siraha, has not been widely publicised, the depositors have not been attracted towards it. HMG had launched the saving bank programme at the district post office and ilaka post office, Lahan, from 2051.
While the bank provides five per cent interest per annum, the post office provides seven per cent but even then the depositors are not attracted towards the postal saving programme. When contacted in this connection, chief of the district post office, Yamuna Pajiyar, said that lack of publicity was the main reason behind it.
The accounts at the post office can be opened with Rs 100 and a cheque system has been introduced for withdrawing money.
