Saran calls on UML gen. secy. Nepal, Speaker Nemwang

Indian Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran met with CPN-UML general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal and speaker of the reinstated House of Representatives Subash Nemwang on Tuesday.

The meeting between Saran and Nepal concentrated on Maoist arms management and restoration of peace in the country.

Saran said that Maoists should not be included in the interim government before their arms management. The duo also discussed about the formation of an interim government including the Maoists.

Saran expressed the govt. of India’s commitment for help in the Nepal Government’s efforts of restoring peace in the country.

Likewise, Saran also called on Speaker Nemwang at the Parliament Secretariat to discuss the current political situation of the country.

Saran inquired about the historic proclamation of the parliament and Maoist arms management.

The Indian ambassador to Nepal, Shiv Shankar Mukharjee was also present at both the meetings.

Saran arrived in Kathmandu on Saturday to take part in two-day conference of the Indian Ambassadors working in the SAARC member countries.

The two-day-long meeting that concluded on Monday was held in Kathmandu for the first time. Earlier the meeting used to be held at New Delhi.

Sharan also called on Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala at the Prime Minister’s residence at Baluwatar on Sunday. Sharan is also scheduled to meet Deputy Prime Ministers K P Sharma Oli and Amik Serchan and other top leaders of the ruling seven party alliance, according to reports.
