Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and US Ambassador Michael Malinowski Wednesday planted saplings at Seshnarayan to remember more than 3000 who died on 9/11 in the worst terror attack in the world.

Leading Nepali personalities and other members of the diplomatic community also planted 100 saplings at the site in a remote corner of the Valley. The area has been named Shantibatika Ban or Peace Forest.

A stone plaque at the Ban read: We shall remember. “September 11  is the most painful day for the whole human community. It was a ruthless blow to humanity,” Deuba said.

“The attacks were on the freedom of the world and our most fundamental belief manifested in the constitution,” said the US envoy.
