Sankata Club played a fighting game to go 2-1 down against RCT while NRT snatched a goal margin victory against Brigade Boys Club (BBC) to end the first round matches in the ongoing Martyrs’ Memorial ANFA San Miguel “A” Division League Football Tournament played here at Dasrath Stadium Saturday.
Sankata boys – playing with National U-17 squad- seemed toothless in the first half where they conceded first goal and leapfrogged themselves in goal tally. The first half show was very tough but a goal from Rishi Rai provided cloud nine to Jamal based Club. Rajan Gauchan was involved in the action shooting beautiful corner providing Rai to shot just over the head of Sankata goalie Rupak Shrestha. RCT came close to goals on many occasions but their lack of finish deprived from more goals.

After the lemon break, Sankatains showed some strength to put RCT men in trouble but their lack of finish and stubborn defensive game from Baiju Gopal’s men barred them from winning the match. Sankata could amass some goals but two long range shots from Ranjit Shrestha and Prabin Karki were excellently saved by RCT goalie Manish Hada. However, they cut the deficit in the wee hours capitalizing the spot kick through Ranjit Shrestha.

Earlier, Subash Rai scored solitary goal for NRT to grab all important three points against Brigade Boys Club. Rai scored through free-kick from the edge of the box.
