The International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) and the German Development Cooperation (GTZ) are jointly organizing a conference on rural transport infrastructure development in the Hindu-Kush Himalayan region in the capital from October 1-4 as part of the International Year of the Mountains, an announcement said Wednesday.
“The meeting will provide a forum where people can exchange ideas, share stories of success and failure, learn from each other, and identify best practices, pooling their wealth of experience for the benefit of all,” the announcement said.
Fifty professionals from different institutions and organizations concerned with rural transport infrastructure in development in Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Nepal and Pakistan are participating.
The four day conference will prepare a conference declaration and a set of policy recommendations that will be presented at the Global Mountain Summit being held from September 28 to November 1 this year Bishkek, Kyrgyzsthan.
