The third general convention of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) beginning Thursday in the tourist hub of Pokhara is set to elect the new president as all efforts to agree on a consensus candidate failed Wednesday.

The Convention will be opened at the Stadium to be followed by closed-door session at the Dipendra auditorium. A total of 1,302 convention representatives along with 35 appointees have already arrived in the scenic city to elect their new leadership and a 24 member working committee for the next four years.

The leaders in the fray for the coveted post of president are Dr. Prakash Chandra Lohani, Pashupati Shumsher Rana, Rabindra Sharma and Padma Sundar Lawati.
