The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has expelled nearly half-a-dozen leaders after they deserted the party.

According to the party sources, former PM and ex-officio member of the party Surya Bahadur Thapa, former minister and permanent invitee in the central committee Prakash Chandra Lohani, former minister and central committee member Buddhiman Tamang and former minister and leader Sarvendranath Sukla have lost their party membership. However, the RPP has given a chance to central committee member Renukumari Yadav to clarify her stance.

“Those who joined the new party- Rastriya Jana Shakti Party – lost their membership as per clause 6 (D) of the party statute,” a party statement said.

Earlier this week, former Prime Minister Surya Bahadur Thapa had formed Rastriya Jana Shakti Party amidst a function in Kathmandu. Leaders Lohani, Tamang, Sukla and Yadav are involved in the newly formed party.
