Rastriya Parajatantra Party (RPP) chairman Pashupati Shumsher Rana has urged the government to ensure a safe environment whereby all political parties could freely participate in the constituent assembly elections.

Addressing a gathering of party workers in Sindhupalchowk Thursday, Rana said free and fair election would be impossible if the government failed to improve the law and order situation. “Holding constituent assembly election without creating safe environment will have no meaning,” he maintained.

The RPP chief, who arrived in his constituency with police escorting, claimed that the Maoists were still harassing their political opponents in the villages.

He made it a point to criticise the eight parties for showing “autocratic behavior” to parties outside of their alliance, and warned that RPP and other smaller parties would be “compelled” to launch revolt against the eight parties if their voices continue to be ignored.
