Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) chairman Pashupati Shumsher Rana met jailed former Prime Minister and Nepali Congress (Democratic) president Sher Bahadur Deuba and discussed with him the current political situation in the country and the position of the international community over it.
During the one-hour one-to-one at the Police Academy, Maharajgunj, where Deuba has been kept after the Royal Commission convicted him for corruption in Melamchi Drinking Water Project, the two leaders exchanged views on ending the current political impasse, informed sources said.
Rana also briefed Deuba about his recent visit to India and the United Kingdom, mentioning that the international community was in favour of dialogue and reconciliation between the political parties and the King.
Though Rana declined to comment on what transpired between him and Deuba, he said his party favored early reconciliation between the parties and the monarch. “Our recent Central Working Committee had also concluded that dialogue and reconciliation between the King and the parties is a must to resolve the present crisis,” Rana said while coming out of the Police Academy.
During his visit to India and the UK, Rana had met some senior political figures of these countries, discussing the Nepal’s political stalemate.
