Their Majesties King Gyanendra and Queen Komal arrived in Phidim, the district headquarters of Paanchthar, on Wednesday as part of their three-week long tour to the Eastern Development Region.

Ordinary citizens, security heads and top-ranking administrative officials welcomed the King and the Queen when they arrived in Phidim this morning, reports said. The King also interacted with the local residents and learned about their problems and grievances.

Their Majesties flew back to the Eastern Pritana (army division) in Itahari, Sunsari district, after the two-hour stay in Phidim, according to reports.

Their Majesties had visited Taplejung on Tuesday to take stock for the situation in the district.

Their Majesties who had left for the eastern region on January 1 will return to the capital on January 22. This is their second visit to the eastern region after the Feb 1 royal move.
