President of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), Pashupati Shamsher Rana became the second leader after Sher Bahadur Deuba to receive a royal audience on Monday.
According to RPP sources, Rana received the King’s audience at Narayanhiti Royal Palace on Monday evening.
Talking to radio stations after his meeting with the King, Rana said the King is for forming a government through national consensus.
“His Majesty the King expressed his clear commitment for multiparty democracy in the country,” Rana said.
“I told the King that the incumbent Surya Bahadur Thapa government should no longer remain in power,” Rana said.
Meanwhile, Nepali Congress (NC) sources said its president Girija Prasad Koirala is also receiving the King’s audience on Tuesday.
“The meeting was scheduled for 4:30 pm Monday, but it was postponed for Tuesday as Koirala could not return in time from his hometown Biratnagar,” the sources said.
The King has resumed a fresh reconciliation bid after giving UML General Secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal an audience last week.
